Now, this is ambitious...

From Gil Friend's Sustainability blog, the New York City Zero Waste Campaign has released a plan to take the Big Apple to "very close to zero [waste] in 20 years." The Campaign brings up a point that ought to make Gotham's citizens listen up: waste disposal costs a lot, and that money could be used elsewhere if wastes are severely reduced or eliminated. It's good to see more groups with environmental goals recognizing the power of the pocketbook...
