The Numbers are Here...

Yesterday, I lamented that a New York Times article on the passage of the Senate's energy bill didn't give the kinds of details needed to evaluate it. RenewableEnergyAccess.com comes to the resuce with an op-ed and comprehensive breakdown of provisions in the bill for renewable energy. Jesse Brohl's take is largely positive, although it notes (as does a commenter) that until this bill is reconciled with the House's much "dirtier" bill, we need to hold off celebrating. So, what do you think? Has the Senate taken positive steps forward overall to encourage the development of renewable power, or do provisions supporting more traditional power forms like fossil fuels and nuclear power cancel these out or even outweigh them? Judging from the comments REA's piece has received, this is still a matter of sometimes passionate debate.
