The first part of this program is the launch of the "Plant-a-Tree with WebEx" campaign, an easy way to experience the business productivity benefits of web meetings while helping offset global carbon dioxide emissions. Users simply go to www.webex.com/go/zerocarbon, sign up for the special WebEx Meeting Center free trial, hold two business meetings and WebEx will plant a tree in their name through Carbonfund.org.In addition, WebEx is hosting a free webinar titled "Climate Change and A Zero Carbon World" on May 2nd with Carbonfund.org president Eric M. Carlson. A company like WebEx could easily enough claim that they're doing plenty through their business alone to reduce CO2 emissions, so it's great to see them taking extra steps to educate the corporate community.
"By helping to reduce unnecessary travel associated with meetings, WebEx helps companies reduce their corporate carbon dioxide footprint and lower the overall cost of doing business," said Lesley Marcus Carlson, president, Carbonfund.org. "Plant-a-Tree with WebEx is just one aspect of our WebEx for Clean Air partnership to help educate and encourage companies to become carbon-aware and pursue environmentally sound policies."
