Paul at Eyeteeth has posted links to a couple of interesting alternative fuel developments: biodiesel-powered schoolbuses and ethanol distilled from a glut of French wine (registration required). Apparently, the switch to biodiesel school buses is a nationwide trend: "About 100 systems nationwide have made the switch,' and that number is growing all the time,' [Amber Pearson with the Missouri-based National Biodiesel Board] said. For the French, they've got a glut of wine, even the good stuff. While winemakers are cringing at the prospect of customers pouring their vintages into their gas tanks, apparently that's the only way many of these vinters can sell their product at all.
