That seems to be the position of Rep. Joe Barton himself, who, according to this article from The American Prospect, has taken it upon himself and the House's Energy and Commerce committee to settle the "debate" over global warming. And how's he going to do that? By badgering the authors of the "hockey stick" model. But, of course, this isn't to say that Rep. Barton doesn't have, you know, scientific credentials or anything. He has been honored by the Annapolis Center for Science-Based Public Policy, which cited his "rational, science-based thinking and policy-making." And he's taken lots of money from the oil and gas industry, and they only fund politicians with solid scientific backgrounds... right?
