Amy Hemmert and Tammy Pelstring describe themselves as moms of school-aged kids who share interests in "nutrition, fitness, and the environment." These interests, as well as concern about what their kids were eating for lunch, and the wastes that was produced from the convenience items in the typical lunch bag, led them to starting their Laptop Lunch system products and Waste-Free Lunches, a website that provides information on the wastefulness of the typical lunch a child carries to school (or that many of us take to work). Amy described her and Tammy's work towards cleaning up lunchtime as a "movement," and from the action they've spurred in school systems and other institutions around the country, I'd say that's a fair label.
Thanks, Amy, for the heads-up...
