This
op-ed by environmental activist and retired chemist Lee Bidgood in the Daytona Beach
News-Journal is particularly interesting. Bidgood laments his state's foot-dragging on climate change issues as other states like California and Washington (as well as Northeastern states) take bold steps forward to limit carbon emissions and promote renewable energy. One would think that after last September's hurrican bonanza, Florida would be motivated to take action against global warming -- it's certainly one of the, if not the most, vulnerable places to the effects of extreme weather developments. Oh, but wait a minute -- the guy in the state house is named Bush... Never mind -- what about that Schiavo women...?
