Federal Land Under the Gun

From the Aspen Times News via Ranger Bob, a report on how the Forest Service (and other land agencies, according to RB) are feeling the heat from oil and gas companies wanting to take advantage of the Bush administration's generous offerings to drill on public lands. This comes in the face of high oil and gas prices, but as Ranger Bob points out, it's all a charade: "The small amounts of gas & oil that will be obtained will have little effect on our nations consumption and appetite for energy. Our future holds an energy policy that goes down the easy road, not truly addressing our real energy issues." So where are the folks complaining about unsightly windmills? Seems to me that oil rigs are much uglier, not to mention much dirtier...
