From RenewableEnergyAccess.com, news of newly-passed legislation in Washington state that is being hailed as "the most progressive renewable energy legislation ever passed in a U.S. state." The two bills that passed establish production-based credits for homes and businesses with solar PV and wind power systems, a model that originated in Germany and that is quite different from the "capacity-based" incentives seen in states like California. With additional credits for buying from Washington-based manufacturers, tax deductions for utilities paying the credit and tax credits for renewable energy businesses in the state or willing to relocate there, Washington may have put itself on the path to being the country's largest developer of renewable power.
