"God-Flavored Environmentalism"

That's what Gristmill blogger Lisa Hymas calls the creation care movement. She posts an interesting excerpt from an interview with evangelical environmental leader Richard Cizik in which he gives his reasons for not wanting to ally with the traditional environmental movement. As Lisa notes, it's easy to write off Cizik's concerns, but he and his minions do have the ears of those in political power. At the same time, I think Cizik's comments show that he needs to do a bit more investigating of "environmentalism," as the notion of environmentalists as socialist pagans (my shorthand) simplifies a pretty complex groups of people and ideas.
