Biodiesel Production Coming to Missouri

From the Moberly (MO) Monitor-Index via Green Car Congress, an announcement that
...Missouri's first major biodiesel production plant was going to be constructed in Mexico, Mo.

Mid America Biofuels, LLC, in coordination with the Missouri Soybean Association (MSA) held a press conference outside the Audrain County Courthouse today to announce plans to build the multi-million plant in mid-Missouri.

Mid America Biofuels, LLC is a partnership of Biofuels, LLC, a Missouri farmer-owned biodiesel business; Archer Daniels Midland Company; Ray-Carroll County Grain Growers; and MFA Oil Company. The facility will use soybean oil as feedstock and carry a nameplate capacity of 30 million gallons of biodiesel production per year.
This should be great news for the local economy, and also shows that mid-Missouri is slowly becoming a bit player in renewable energy development -- the Rev. Larry Rice's Mid-America Renewable Energy Center is just down Highway 54 in New Bloomfield.
