From Bill McKibben, a New York Times op-ed on the great windmill debate: are they a necessary tool in the fight against climate change, or an unsightly blight on the landscape? McKibben chooses the former, and I have to agree. The potential damage global warming could could inflict on the natural environment seems to trump the aesthetic issues. And I do think these are primarily aesthetic issues -- everything I've read shows minimal environmental impact of new-generation windmills. No place for NIMBYs, folks...
