"Going Local" in the University

From Weblogs in Higher Education, a model for challenging regional universities to address, in both the classroom and faculty research, elements of a given region's economic, social and environmental sustainability. As I professor at a regional school, I think this is a welcome concept -- it's easy to see a "McUniversity" model as the only way to attract students and faculty.
