So, what's up...

With John McCain? I used to buy into the idea that he was a politically independent maverick, as his position on global warming attests. But, then I see him shamelessly shilling for months for a presidential candidate that not only refuses to acknowledge that global warming exists (much less that it's a serious problem), but that also pandered to the worst instincts of Southern voters in his smears of McCain in the 2000 Republican primary. Hey, party loyalty's great and all, but I have trouble with a "fierce independent" turning into a lap dog when his serves his own short-term political gains... I guess that's why he supported Dubya... I wonder when we'll see the payoff.
